Port Canaveral Shatters Revenue Records + Disney Fantasy 2014

Revenue Records Shatter

Total Port Canaveral revenues in fiscal year 2012 were a record-breaking $68.9 million, up more than 17 percent above a record set in 2011.

Multi-day cruise traffic and revenue were the major driving forces behind the new record. In 2012, multi-day passenger count increased 21 percent to a record 3.76 million, raising Port Canaveral from third place to second among the busiest cruise ports in the world. Paralleling the rise in traffic, multi-day cruise revenue increased 26 percent in 2012 to a record $50.6 million.

The significant multi-year increase in revenue is enabling the Port Authority to invest in Port infrastructure and pursue new projects designed to create more opportunities for business and more local jobs and maintain the Port’s momentum as one of the region’s most powerful economic engines.

Three Disney Ships In 2014

Disney Cruise Port Canaveral

As competition among seaports for cruise ships intensifies, Disney Cruise Line demonstrated its continuing confidence in Port Canaveral by announcing it will homeport a third ship here in 2014. Joining the two newest and largest Disney vessels, Disney Dream and Disney Fantasy, the Disney Magic, a member of the Port Canaveral home fleet from 1998 to 2012, returns to help her sister ships meet the high demand for sailings out of of Port Canaveral.

Studies show that, on average, each 2,000-passenger ship with 950 crewmembers generates approximately $322,700 in onshore spending in its homeport area*. With a passenger occupancy of 2,700 and two scheduled sailings per week, the Disney Magic‘s return will have a significant economic impact.

From May through August 2014 Disney Fantasy will add Jamaica as a new port-of-call to its seven-night Western Caribbean itinerary from Port Canaveral.
